PO could have been colour blind. So no point in spending on colour coded wires.

I don't like series LRs that have been painted and would have left this in its original paint, provided it wasn't too scabby.

Cheers MLOR but I've rewired it and given it a polish.

I could spend all day polishing car parts if anybody would like to employ me.

I've been scavenging parts off my two 'one tons' . Just bulbs mainly as I harbour notions of fixing them in the future.

I'm red/green colour blind myself. There's a wire in the loom that's green with a brown stripe. I kept having to get my son to identify it for me because I can't see the brown.

Good work Drummond. There's something about these old Land Rovers having a very Ministry of Defence style to the instrument panel and switches.

You mean that the switches were tacked on anywhere that came to hand

On an now obsolete MoD aircraft I used to fix many moons ago, the switches had been added to over the years and almost all of the switches to do with a retro-fit comms system had been fitted in such a way that the pilot had to slacken the harness on his ejector seat to be able to reach them.

Evening Squire. Those last two pictures are of Land rovers fitted out for MOD use. Airfield fire tenders to be precise.

Ah yes, now I remember. You did tell the story but I'd forgotten all about it.

The new loom fitting is almost complete. Just the wiper motor to sort out, oh and the dip switch and brake light switch both of which are missing. Not sure whether to go for a switch on the pedal or a hydraulic one in the brake line.

I've raided the spares stash for fuel line fittings and filter housing parts so tomorrow I'll fit the radiator and see if it will start. Provided it doesn't pish with rain.
