About the worst place you could make a 'repair' like that. Is the cover unique to the Spanish marque?

Originally you could buy all the parts of the clutch cover seperatly. Now you just buy a complete new cover that should all be set up correctly to just bolt on. Why the previous idiot decided to take it apart I have no idea. I suppose because it looks adjustable he thought he would be clever and adjust it. The broken bolt is the eye bolt (no4 in top picture) They have a fair bit of wear in them as well so a new cover fixes everything. Not cheap at just over 200 quid for the complete clutch but one less thing to worry about.

Surely a machine shop could make up a batch of them easy enough?

A nice quiet day today means I can fit this.

It looks too nice to hide it inside the bell housing but never mind. I was hoping to get it finished today but a bit of crap measuring by me meant I got the wrong gearbox tail seal. At least I can get the box back in now it has a new front seal and gaskets.

There are less and less coach builders now and they tend to specialise in one make rather than just about anything like they used to. This is a good video of how they are made with a bonus Rover 75 hearse halfway through. Different countries have different styles. Some of the south American stuff is impressive including Peugeot 307's and VW Golf's.

I suspect like my Humber there was a lot of clutch work in its low mileage.

Well now the hearse appears to be just about reliable I have booked it on the Ferry next Friday to take it to Le Mans. One annoying thing with this type of hearse is there is no easy way of storing stuff under the deck, so today was the day to change that. As I hadn't re-fitted the new deck I decided to put it on hinges so it can be lifted up and access a bit more storage. There is a bit more to do yet to tidy it up round the edges which can be Mondays job along with new rubber seals for the back window.
