Same with 405s. Some might even go so far as to say they don't rust... Well they didn't but to be fair to them it took 20 years.

I just like to repair stuff I respect though. That old 306 has now done 282,000 without the engine ever having had any work. It had been a totally dependable machine and it deserves to live.
My previous Nissan X Trail threw a rod so I just stripped it and squashed it. I had only had it a year. Not enough time to form a proper bond!

Dunno. There are cars I bond with within the first ten metres and on the other hand there are cars, which aren't bondwithable in a lifetime.

A shame though, as you say, the kingfishers are rare.
Bit of paint on the old one is a bit cheaper than welding that bagga.

Well yesterday was a happy day for me. I timed the heirloom 306 up properly and it started no problem! Sounds good too, other than the fact I can't get the exhaust to bolt up to the manifold. It has spent nearly two years not only parked up on what was once grass but also with the exhaust system full of flood water and this has rotted the centre of the exhaust to point where it is sagging in the middle and won't line up with the manifold. Although to be fair, it was starting to blow anyway. No big deal, I have spare ones.
Today I drove it out of its stingy testing place. Clutch was stuck on but that soon freed off
It looks better emptied of junk and out in the open (it had been turned into a storage shed like all parked up cars)
306s make good weedkillers. Not many stingers under where it's been. I did find a socket though. Wondered where that has gone!

I've probably misunderstood but seem to think that you were going to swap panels onto this. If it's sagging in the middle surely it's scrap now?

Panel swappable was just some musing. It may or may not happen. The EXHAUST is sagging in the middle...
