Re: Rusty Triumphs in Scotland
My mk3 Escort years ago had damage to the crank so the woodruff key moved. Then the crank pulley would turn a bit. The car just got slower till it stopped. I got pretty good at resetting it by the road until I managed to glue the pulley and key on with chemical metal.

Re: Rusty Triumphs in Scotland
I think the Acclaim's engine is non-interference. Although the documentation for fitting the belt says it's interference and the general consensus is that all Honda engines are with very few exceptions... I've struggled to fine any exact info.
I've been told the car snapped it's belt about 4 years ago and it was sold as a non-runner that'd turn over but not fire. So I assume it must be non-interference as there is no evidence of a head rebuild...

Probably depends on the exact spec & size. I think some Pintos were & some weren't for similar reasons.captain_70s wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 2:47 pm I think the Acclaim's engine is non-interference. Re: Rusty Triumphs in Scotland
1.6 Pintos are non interference as is the standard 2.0, once you've skimmed the head a few times and put a high lift cam in the 2.0 probably isn't any more.
A friend put his 1.6 Sierra estate on its roof in its last race, they rolled it back over and it started when pushed and it drove back off the track. Ran like a sack of crap though, back at the yard they discovered when it landed it had ripped off all the engine mounts and stopped the cam jumping 4 or 5 teeth, amazingly once it was set back up it sounded sweet!
