Ok all home and in the workshop I will have a look at it next week, but the engine turns over on the starter motor and it is pretty sound. It needs a really good clean up but I don't think there will be much welding.

Well I was thinking of chopping it up and fitting a Golf engine but that defeats the point of a classic car. It has twin transverse front springs, one at the top and another under the gearbox. The tyres are all fucked which is annoying as they are 145x400's and only available from Michelin at £150 each. I will have to go to the autojumble in France if they have much in the way of French parts. (I went to one years ago in Belgium and it was the sme tat as you find in the UK)

Ok that was a bit too easy ! A clean of the carb and points and it fired straight away. I just have to mess around with the ignition as it has no keys and it hot wired running off a can at the moment.
