Well, most of them, there are a few soldered bastards but I'm capable of using a soldering iron properly.

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)
I need new tips for my soldering iron, which I found out the other week when I went to use it. I'd just pop down Maplins for some as it's one of their 'digital irons' but...Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 10:39 pmWell, most of them, there are a few soldered bastards but I'm capable of using a soldering iron properly.

1) Make sure it's plugged in.
2) Make sure it's hot.
3) Heat the joint, not the solder.
Do you want any more?

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)
There's a few events at the Honda household to cover, but I'll come back to them soon enough.
I've had a Duuo Plus for 10 years now, so the tyres were looking rather sorry for themselves in the sidewall department. One had gone flat, so I dug the elderly, but pristine spare out of the shed and fitted it. The other was looking equally bad, but was holding air okay. So rather than running it until it pops for some online content, I started to hunt around for some new rubber.
The Plus model has these nonsense 16.5 x 6.50 - 8 tyres (the same as the Combi-camp funnily enough) but they're not exactly the easiest things to find. So I had a scout around online, but I needed something sooner as I plan to nip over to England next week with the thing and ending up on the CBW thread isn't part of the plan.
So yesterday I went to Parnells to find some tyres as they were advertising what I needed on ebay and I spotted that they weren't too far away, on the outskirts of Dublin. The do lots of castors and odd-ball tyres such as ATVs, Golf buggies and cripple carts. Unfortunately, they only had one in stock and that cost me €47.
Today's battle was fitting it. Last time I wrestled with one of these was when I was doing the three for the trailer tent. I gave up after one because being small and wide they can be a cunt to fit.
I was surprised that it wasn't too much of a bastard to get the old one off. Then I dug out my tyre soap pot and got the inner bead on the rim in a mere minute.
Then it only took a further 7 mins of swearing and sweating like John Leslie to get the rest over the rim. It's really awkward to get the opposite side deep in the well.
Then a quick drive down to the garage because no compressor and job jobbed.

If you're coming over to England please, please drive carefully as
the roads are like ice here and it'd be ironic for you to be in CBW.
Even expert drivers used to 250cc spaz chariots can come a cropper.

I will be careful as I'll mostly be on the extremely dry shites' territory and they'll have you for anything.

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)
Moar tyreage, this time the rear of the RT
Not quite spent BT021, but 2015 and I don't want brandersnatch to have sleepless nights.
Borrowed from the other RT, BT023. Excuse the Hoolihairs
I'm a fucking idiot - I stood on the centre cap and broke it a bit. Tried melting over the crosses with a soldering iron, but it didn't hold too well.
Just tipped over 50k last Thursday.
Even though it pissed it down heavy for ten minutes, I ran for cover to the shed as my mother-in-law was round.
