Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

You need a new phone to take decent photographs.
Something capable of taking 30mb is a single shot.

You should be more confident in your first thoughts.

As it happens, I do have a new phone* but it's in Glasgow at Tommy's at the moment. I'm not going to pay a second lot of VAT on it, plus PO handling fee getting it sent over. I'll pick it up when I'm there - currently sometime after 19th July.

Not that good. You were a right doubting Thomas with your own first thought!

From €29,999 here after government bribes. I don't take much interest in new-fangled tosh, but it's nice to see a right wheel drive car with a decent turning circle.

In white, it reminds of this:

It's insurance time of the year for me again. Main car first.

Jizz update:

Rather than go through all the shite on the phone again this year, only to be fobbed off with shit excuses about why they can't give me a cheap quote (tow bar fitted more competently than some spanner ape "modification" needing an engineer's report - yeah shove it up your hole). I awaited the renewal with much interest.

Now last year, because of the The Covid™, AXA were dishing out €30 cheques to policyholders. As mine was underwritten by them, I got a cheque. Pain in the hole to cash given the state of the ever shrinking bank branch network, but better than a swift kick in the plums. Makes sense in a way: No cunt going nowhere = No cunt claiming.

Given last year's death and destruction payouts were smoll, does that reflect in this years premium? Does it fuck!

The robbers wanted €500.63 TPF&T on a 15 year old Jizz. That's with max NCD, not being a footballer or publican and living somewhere where the scumbags haven't deprived me of my cat yet. Now I understand this is a relative thing and people get €20k for whiplash. Yes it's a fucking nonsense and even the EU call it a cartel: https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2021/0 ... mpetition/

So at the minute, we're still humped with dual pricing. Last year after discussion it was reduced to €445. This year after ten minutes on the phone confirming details, confirming nothing at all had changed and that they were taking the piss clawing back their €30-and-some-more they gave me last year. I was offered without resistance €450 renewal. I paid it in full, as I do and ended the madness for another year.

I didn't phone around. I couldn't face that shit again.

Yes, that is a three digit tyre code: "298"
Looks like 228 to me.

What's the significance of three digits?
You're right, I hadn't had a coffee before posting as was looking through piggy-eyes.

228∆ (with a triangle after the 8) is a 1990s date code, so 22nd week of 1998. (The production date of the car is 15th June 1998)

From 2000, they went to four digit format WWYY.

I think if it is without a triangle then it's 1980s.
You're both wrong.
Here's the numbers explained for the hard of thinking.
