Pointless update.

Because there isn't one.

Actually have ege blanks now, 4 not 2.
Will have compressor rebuild kit weekend hopefully (as per prev links)
Undecided as to dropping exhaust off as yet or turbo out....

Does smoke a bit* currently.

Slightly amusing fact - the wife got a speeding ticket in it :-)

Any idea on what is causing the smoke, modern things (like transits) seem prone to buggering pistons if they have leaky injectors, not like the good old days :(

Possibly out of spec injectors and/or turbo vanes stuck. Likely to be a combination of both- I suspect a couple of them at 'adjustment' range limit.
Not really easy to tell unless everything else is working ok. They are used to smooth out vibration at low speed.

Just noticed this - had a D3 for a few years. When my intercooler hose split (and they all do sooner or later) it made a lot of smoke and not much power - but no fault codes.

Also mine is starting to show signs of the EGR valves needing doing again - sluggish (no fault code) some mornings (much like owner).

Yours is a very odd spec - I wonder if it was a press car - maybe a pre-production one like the Jag X350 I had - that had a load of weird options and the VIn number was several thousand too early to be correct for a diesel one. Maybe you have the D3 equivalent of a late sixties Velar?

This month’s LRM has an 04 reg disco that was the 271st made - making yours a very very early one.
The one featured in the mag is a pre-production car.

As usual, quite a bit of the “information” in the mag is bollocks

Ain't that the truth.

So, turbo still sticking. Injectors a bit better. Clean, decent fuel seems to help.

Spectacular intercooler hose failure ensued. Duct tape enough to get me home. Win. Spare one fitted and howay again.

Now have alternate transport will endeavour to see if I can free off turbo without removal. Ha!

Otherwise dead reliable. 😀

Good afternoon all.

So, minor minor update.
Still going strong etc. Still not fixed engine fault. Half way through fixing compressor fault.
New rear distance sensor still in door pocket.
New front pads fitted. Yay.
Rears stripped and cleaned.
New bad wheel bearing and hub. Timken.

Yes, that's right. Timken.

It's a keeper. 😁

Brake wear sensor routing from hell.
Under the arch liner.
Bloody wire is nearly a metre long. Thanks L-R. 😜
