To wrap up the petrol float business, I robbed a larger float from the sensor I put in my Freelander's* header tank, and here it is in petrol.

Tests were carried out in my scientific laboratory to make sure the tiny magnet in the float would still actuate the microswitch, which sensibly, isn't in contact with the fuel. The tank has been flushed out with caustic soda and the gravel sucked out with the Hoover. Won't empty the cleaner just to add a bit of spice to life next time it has to be lugged upstairs. Just got to nail the van's floor down and that's it for now.
* It not that these vehicles don't need a low water warning, it's just that despite flushing it's system there's so much k seal in there that this sort of switch jams up within a few days. I hope the pivot type switch I've now fitted works better.

I'm not keen on the finishing touches, but I can't put off sorting out doing the interior any longer. Bits of scrap metal and even thin fibreglass from an old Luton roof have been dug out and bent to fit the awkward shape of the Bedford's interior. There was no possibility of using the original roof lining as a template- it never had one. However the wooden slatted roof covered with canvas that the van left the factory with was easier on the eye than my alloy one so something had to be done.

The glove boxes were the normal cardboard and were long gone, so I knocked some bits of ply together.

Indeed. It's wasted just going to Lidls at the moment.

Interior is now finished and it's a bit quieter. I've used old off cuts of soundproofing, rubber mats from cars that got bridged, and the back doors have been exquisitely finished with lorry mud flaps. That's the van finally done, apart from a few bits of paint that I've already decided not to get around to.
