Yeah, I think so. I did want it done this year really but I just didn’t get through it quickly enough. Tbh though there’s no rush and I’d much rather have everything done right even if it does take twice as long!

fried onions wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:03 pm Yes indeed. Looks minty-fresh. Good call with the Dynax wax, I really need to get some myself.
I like the Dynax stuff. It lasts well but protects brilliantly too. Well worth doing on old stuff.

Dan ,do you know "Dave the Capri" , from Heathfield ? Top bloke. Gave me an interior light for my fiesta as it had turned to powder! He's got quite a few Capris..and sprints and drags this one with a Cosworth engine .

Capri is really moving on
Love all the attention to detail :)
Wish I was getting on with The Shite One (though hes not so shite anymore) but Ive been quite ill for a while now. He is away for the winter and ive amassed some better parts for him hoping my health improves in the new year and I can finish him. So not long for the Capri now? Finished in the new year? keep it up your going great guns

Been a while...!
I have been looking in on here from time to time, just not been posting much.
Lots done on this, although not as much as I’d like still! Very little happened over winter as the weather was just so shit I couldn’t get the car out to get stuck into it so it stayed in its garage.

First thing to get done after winter was something reasonably easy but that would make a big difference visually, just so I could feel like I’d done something!
The cars bumpers weren’t the best, the chrome is ok but they’re a bit battered and not up to the standard I want really. I’ve also got a pair of salvaged bumpers liberated from a very dead mk2 Ghia. These were much straighter but the chrome isn’t great either. I was keeping an eye out for some good ones to come up for a while, eventually spotting a really nice pair on eBay. They weren’t cheap, but it had to be done as I can’t put scabby bent chrome back on now.
They were in great condition, they do have the odd mark here and there but for the age of them I think you’d struggle to find better. I’ve cleaned the backs, sprayed them with wax to stop corrosion and given the chrome and rubber strips a good clean and polish.
All the bumper irons and brackets have also been stripped, cleaned up and painted.
