Re: Never mind the Gas Crisis heres the Wobstang!
Coincidentally I just discovered a guy who really knows what he is talking about.

A lot of the things he mentions are 100% congruent with my experiences. Before you even get around to fix anything, or into the actual restoration process, you are undoing the bodges and ill repairs previous owners did, often damaging more than mending things in the process.
This is rarely motivated by fraudulent intent, although that happens too, but often by ignorance, incompetence, laziness, impatience and cheapness.
Since I'm no longer doing yanks, I can assure you that all this is not restricted to Americans. Oh no. Not at all. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Really interesting - I love the 'perfumed pig' tag in the first video.
Thanks a lot for posting it.

Looks like I will have the ungrateful little arse back next week
Then he gets the rear fender banged back into some sort of order and will then be pressed back into service

Spare Time whats that?
Once the Fender is bashed out I have to get my arse into gear and finish it,at least outwardly cosmetically
I can probably have a rest from it around Septemberish?
But at least I will be able to drive it around

Re: Never mind the Gas Crisis heres the Wobstang!
Its been a while and for the upteenth time I am promised the little gobshite will return this week
Its not my tame mechanic hes been a diamond
He farmed out the driveshaft to a "Trusted Company" and they have had the bloody Torque Stick of promise for over a month now
Lazy toerogs
Anyway not naming them until I have it back,we all know how this works you slate them you fight forever to get your goods back.....................
In the meantime Engine is back in with vital fluids and everything is connected up ready waiting for the bloody driveshaft Grrrrrr
As you can see I got really bored and painted the rad top and the servo
So then I decided to paint the boot apature and rear of the lid so to make a neat job took out the rear screen surround
I then had a bit of a shock when half of California fell out to greet me
And revealed this
West Coast Rust
So after panic we decided to ignore it and crack on with this
Abandon all hope and ignore the rust because pretty looking trunk
Eventually we realised we should return to the crusty goodness and deal with it
So after atacking it with a wire brush we slapped liberal amounts of this milky goodness all over it
Which resulted in this
Which once it had calmed down we coated in some good old oil based enamel as it was to be hidden anyhow
We then left it for sleepy byes whilst getting on with giving the rear screen surround some tlc
Half way through
Finished!
So before refitting generous lashings of oil that was waxy was applied
And the trim was refitted.
But I was still bored!!!!
So this happened
No I dont know why either?
BEIGE!!!!!!
Yes I know I know
Do Not Paint.........................................
