Bloody cars. I'm almost frightened to get my R16 on the road. You just know it will be a pain.

That looks rather well in the black over black! In a menacing sort of way!

That looks great, it's just shabby enough to look menacing.

I had a bit of time on the 'turd today and sorted out the dent in the fuel tank so the new pick up pipe fits correctly. I then fished out a lump of crap from one of the float valves so it is now ticking over and running properly again. I will have to get a couple more cans of fuel and take it for a run later this week.

Well I forgot to do a video but the Thunderbird is now in my garage at home. That must be all of 3 miles I have done in it now. It is still running as rich as fuck so the carb will have to come off yet again for another clean out, but it is driving ok and the fuel gauge works now its got 40 quids worth of fuel in it. Next job is sort the clutch on the hearse which is why I had to take the 'turd home.

I was following your thread over the fence and now glad I've found it again.

It is a nice old thing but Yank tat is bloody expensive and spending nearly 4 grand on a blind purchase was pretty scary. I have been pretty lucky with this one but there are loads of people who have not been. I only did it as I hadn't had an old Yank before and thought it would make a change from the French tat. I doubt I will do it again but if a Corvair turns up at the right money I may be tempted.

I know what you mean about the blind purchase really scary buzzing thousands to a stranger on the other side of the world and to be honest he wasnt entirely honest about everything :?

but I come out the other side and theres something special about when you have done it yourself

the thing that makes west coast tat appealing is even if its europen imports to the west coast your expoerting back to blighty (doesnt have to be Detroit Iron) most stuff has avoided the tin worm

Would I do it again?

Yes and No

Yes id risk it but Not sure ive got it in me to do another

Id say enjoy it a bit at least before you pass it on if thats what you decide? It is Bloody Lovely though
