Has it really been 2 months since I last did anything to the 'turd ! Well I need some workshop space this week so I have had to pull my finger out and get a few bits done to the old 'turd so I can take it back home and hopefully actually use the bloody thing. First up was to repair the wiring to the temp sender so now I should have a working temp gauge. The oil pressure gauge still won't work though even with a new sender so a bit more digging to do there then. I then finally refitted all the gutter trims and the side windows with new seals. It doesn't sound like a lot but that was a whole day last week and all morning today to get so little done. It does look the dogs danglies though which is just as well because at the moment I can't sell the bloody thing so I may as well enjoy it.

I had to give it a wash as it was covered in filler dust from the Panhard

This fucker is getting to be a bigger money pit than the hearse. I stripped the carb again today and put it all back together so it no longer leaks and runs quite nicely. So I went for a slightly longer run in it of about 10 miles, as I pull back on to my drive the poxy radiator springs a major leak. Fucking thing has now got an ally 3 row performance rad coming from the states. Another few hundred quid on the ungrateful thing. It wouldn't be so bad if the prices for these old heaps had stayed where they were last Autumn but there are 4 of the fuckers for sale for less than this one owes me now. Admittedly they aren't quite as good but mine isn't perfect.

Still, it'll be worth it for a bit of reliability.

Why this aluminium bollox?
Every time I had a problem with my yank rads, I had them recored with a triple net.
Not one of them has ever given me any trouble afterwards.
Well, except the Caprice. It never got hot enough again until I had it recored once again with a double net.
I ran a standard triple net radiator in my race Corvette, which had a Crower injected 454 with a 396 crankshaft, which resulted in a ca. 420 ultra short stroke that could be revved to 8,500 without throwing a rod, mainly thanks to Porsche rod bolts, ahem. The one problem it never gave was overheating and that includes endurance runs in mid Summer Italy. Eat this, septics.

The only reason is it's cheaper than getting the old one recored. The local radiator place charged me over 200 quid to do the Hearse rad so would hate to think what they will charge for this. This one comes out about 250 including tax and shipping
