Yes, it's far cheaper to keep it the same colour. Especially the engine bay.

For some reason my Minor was entirely sprayed black inside and out, door shuts, engine bay, boot - the lot. Must have cost a bit and not sure how long ago it was done (certainly at least 25 years according to the logbook changes) but it still shines like new.

Which begs the question - Why didn't they fucking weld it properly first?

It's Citron, a standard colour.

The problem is that it's different shades as I've rattle canned it using cans from different batches.

Proper job repaint is mega expensive these days.

A decent finish using rattle cans is doable.

A low budget Metro I did extensive welding on a few years back.

That looks pretty good.

My issue, besides cost, was also that if I got it painted professionally it'd show up the nearly 50 year old interior.
I'm going to redo it next year but make this time I'll make sure that all the cans have the same batch number.

Agree....Paint = Chrome = Interior. By which time the engine will need doing again.

It's actually on its original engine, it's a matching numbers car as it should be with less than 70,000 miles. I'd forgotten about the chrome, that'd be a good four figure sum for a start.

I just want a usable car that looks a bit less shabby.

I like yellow cars but Citron never quite does it for me. My favourite is still Vermilion. I do keep a look out for a rubber bumper Vermilion BGT with a Webasto as I have unfinished business with them. Kinda wish I bought that (rotten) one from the local classic car garage. Still my favourite.

Weirdly I’m in the completely opposite end.
I really dislike yellow cars (and I seem to be a magnet for them - I currently have a yellow mostly running 911) but that citron yellow REALLY does it for me. It looks like a greeny-yellow in the photos.
Wish the 911 was that colour. I knew the 911 would work out as a good deal, once I realised just how bad the special order Limonengelb is.

^^^ that picture shows the best side, with lots of trees to blend into.
