Re: Supercharging the climate with a XJR V8 - Blown Fun
That's sitting at 70mph on cruise for near 200miles.

That 4l sov you bought from me would average 27mpg on my 400 mile round trips between home and devon
Driving as fast as M4 / m5 traffic would allow..... so about 78mph

Re: Supercharging the climate with a XJR V8 - Blown Fun
Aye the book says almost 30mpg for a normal 4.0l.
I took the tank vent value off yesterday and realised the top unclipped. So I gutted it, it's only a spring loaded diaphragm inside. It now doesn't restrict airflow at all and looks correct if a garage sees it.
I've still no idea why you'd want a valve restricting the tank breather anyway.

Re: Supercharging the climate with a XJR V8 - OMG MPGs
On the way back from NPH2 last night I was thinking about why this does even less OMGMPGs than it should. I think the problem is heat, it's a lot quicker when it's done 5-10 miles than when it's done 50miles. I bet it's running rich to control the temps.
Normally I'd be looking to flush the intercooler, but on these the charge cooling is done with water so I'm not sure where to start. I'll have to search Jag forums etc to see if anyone has any ideas.

So the engine cooling system is 100% then?
You could try using an infra red thermometer on the system to see if there's any particular hot spots.

Re: Supercharging the climate with a XJR V8 - OMG MPGs
Remember the seat problem this has had for over a year? Well after going to buy some torx bits as I've lost the one I had that fitted I got the seat out and apart today.
End result is failure, the play is in the 'gearbox' for the recline mech and that bit of the frame isn't designed to come apart. I've currently got the driver's seat spread around my front room while I curse about it.
The last two pics are where the play is, no way in without the kit and ability to put it back together afterwards.
Yes I need to vacuum but the vacuum cleaner is currently broke and I'm trying to build up the interest to find out why.

From memory, Lexus don't paint their seat frames.

Re: Supercharging the climate with a XJR V8 - Unexpected Success!
Rather than just put the seat back together I tried a few more times to get it apart by knocking the rack adjuster shaft out of it's gearboxes. I still couldn't get the seat apart but it seems to have reseated whatever bush had popped out inside them as the wobble has gone!
I've just refitted the seat and not only does it all still work but the wobble is still gone. We'll see what happens Monday when I drive it, but fingers crossed it seems a success.
I really do need to spend a dry day treating all the leather in this car though., I've been saying I will since I got it.
