These are on the up now I reckon. I’ve always fancied one in diesel flavour but I’ll stick with my Defender. That’s troublesome and costly enough as it is.

D3's like a decent battery. Not sure on P38's tbh-always found them more tolerant. I'll find out I'm sure.

Fuel filter fun.
Nice and easy to see, underbonnet ftw.
Not overtightened at all. Nope. Not a bit. No way José.
The chain is mine.

No surprises there , unfortunately.
Air is a bit fresher inside, over the straw and dust smell.

Oil and filter - genuine again.
Only the one picture though I'm afraid. Imagine a bucket with 'oil' dripping into it. A lot.
Seriously.
9.5 litres or so.
Replaced all three seals as well - bottom two were very hard....
Small steps.
Parts outlay Approx £95
MOT £36
Still to do - Bushes and ball joints.
Grease props.
Change tranmission oils.
Glow plugs.
Fix slight drain back issue? 1st start it's two or three short cranks to go.

One of my P38s had a battery drain and it if got too low it used to flash error messages at me in German, i assume something to do with the BMW architecture.
Still on air? Manual or auto?

Electrical maladies on a P38 are just the first spin on the roulette wheel of P38 ownership. The only plus point is they don't seem to rust like other Solihul products. The diesel is slow unless it has been chipped and watch out for over heating amongst all their other faults as they do like to crack heads. I have had a few but just haven't been able to gel with any as they just aren't that great. My first one was good and most likely chipped as it went really well. Fuel consumption was shit though compared to the 200tdi Disco it replaced. The V8 will struggle getting more than 15 so even worse.
