Is it still wired positive earth? They were a 6v originally to.
It needs the heat shield over the exhaust and carb to have a hope of running on TVO when it does get going.

Re: Squire's voitures
Did some leather repairs on the Snipe. A historic tear where someone caught the seat squab with something, and a recent split due to dry leather. I need to feed it or treat it somehow. There was some potion concoction of shite that came with the car and I have some similar unguent somewhere in the garage. First step was to get the Klebfest out and glue it back down, with a wedge of foam under the tear.

Re: Squire's voitures
I will have to pay more attention to the polarity but it was a 12v battery we used on it. We took the heat shield off to get at the carb, I think we will be limiting ourselves to petrol operation for the time being at least.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 10:47 pm Is it still wired positive earth? I use Neatsfoot on dry leather. Available from any horsey place. A fraction of the price of proper car leather products.

And that is the correct stuff to use, too.

Aye but doesn't it stink? I remember my dad using it on his flying jackets for a period and it ponged. Sure it kept them supple but years later I'm sure he said he'd rather not done it.

Re: Squire's voitures
The wipes will work on leather that barely needs doing but for old dry leather I fully recommend Neatsfoot. It's surprising just how much it will soak up. Brush it on all over then wait a while. You will see where it has either gone dry or stays shiny. Re apply to the dry bits. It doesn't smell bad but to finish with I use Autoglym leather care balm which seems to seal it and improve the smell
By the way, I once had an interior in my dining room that I was treating. I came back in to find the cat licking it off.
