The neighbour of a friend had one of those in that colour but with a tan leather interior, I always thought that combo went really well. They are definitely ageing gracefully and a really good looking car imo, I wonder how many will survive the period they are in now?

Agreed. Way better than astras and escorts of the time.

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)
What you've all been waiting for...NOT.
JIzz update, Thu 8th July
150k service @152,835 miles
Pooling together some past and present genuine Honda parts, it was time to cram in a super service. Having put it off since getting the car at 67k, I was going in for the valve clearances.
New Honda oil filter, not a French-made Purflux this time, some murican rubbish.
Didn't change the air filter last time, so better do that.
Didn't change the spark plugs either, so better do those as well
Not 4, but 8.
To get to the rockers, a lot of shit on top has to come out. After the coils and plugs, the inlet runners, throttle cable need to removed
However, they won't shift until I disconnect the throttle body and air filter housing. This is only time I have ever had a use for a 5.5mm socket.
And they won't shift until I move the battery.
There's not much room at the front, so a good selection of 3/8" drive sockets and extensions of just the right length are needed.
Eventually it comes off
Then take off the EGR plate
And find it completely gunged-up on the left hand side (pots 3 & 4)
Rocker cover off
Get down to business

Re: Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)
Find the cat's arsehole in the driver's wheelarch to turn the engine over. There's marks on the cam sprocket to do them in pairs.
Grazed finger
MOAR new bits
Get the cover back on with new seal. I don't think there were any zero gaps, I couldn't be arsed checking first. I just set them all to spec. I think they were all a little* on the tight side.
Scrap out all the clag in the EGR plate
throw a bit of oven cleaner at it.
Throw it all back together with new EGR plate gasket and new inlet runner rings, etc.
Ah. Erm. Probably because I didn't disconnect the battery before unplugging lots of things. Couldn't be arsed getting the laptop and Honda HIM/HDS out. The light went away the next day after a few runs.
Running well with zero jerking now. After the test run, changed the cabin filter. (Didn't do that last time either)
Then drained the CVT fluid and refilled with fresh.
NOW GOES LIKE A ROCKET.
