The downgrade option will be into an Octavia. I'm considering this as due to whippet and JRT ownership that's happened since Ioniq purchase, our only hope of a holiday is towing a caravan and sadly the Hyundai has a towing limit of 1000kg.brandersnatch wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 7:49 pm Can’t help thinking that if it’s still reliable and not costing you too much you should keep it. The other side of the coin is that you’re used to the fixed cost of the repayment so replace it with a new one.
Also downgrade? Huh?
I know that was no use at all. My work here is done.

150k on a set of pads and discs is impressive. My other half ran a couple of cabs in the 80's and the cavalier 1.6d would do a set of pads in a week

FUCKING HOW???
On a Mk1/2 Mondeo I'd get at least 12 weeks, or every other service, out of a set of fronts!
The standard taxi joke in the mid 2000s was,
What's the difference between your missus and a Kia Sedona?
Your missus can make a box of pads last 28 days.
The Kia really was a ferocious eater of front pads, especially in auto flavour.

The driver she had at the time was hard on the car and it was running 24/7. Another place I worked the old boy did a clutch in a week on a MaestroWarren t claim wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 7:58 pmFUCKING HOW???

Must have been cheap Maccess brake pads. I'm sure they used to dissolve in the wet.

The obvious answer is to keep the Hyundai for working and buy something ridiculous for towing.Warren t claim wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 7:53 pmThe downgrade option will be into an Octavia. Anyway, answering your question I'd keep it if they have a record of longer term reliability.

Re: Claim's Cabbies Corner. WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
Probably but some motors do use pads I have a customer who ran a Landcruiser and a CRV for 10 years. The best we ever had out of the pads on the Landcruiser was 15k and I tried loads of different makes including genuine. The CRV was just as hard on pads. The only thing I think might of caused it was they have a farm in the Quantocks and the mud is everywhere and they were always plastered in it. The calipers also got changed a few times as well. Both cars were replaced last year and so far no new pads needed.AutoshiteBoy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 8:04 pmMust have been cheap Maccess brake pads. I'm sure they used to dissolve in the wet.
