Run out in the countryside in the Volvo with Girlfriend_70s. Most enjoyable.
Impressive how Dumfries doesn't change with time, it's a great place to see barried cars.
When I worked in Stevenage I had a couple of finance staff in Dumfries report in to me so I used to go up about once per month.
My visits were necessarily brief but it always seemed a nice place.
I was gobsmacked when, a year after I left the firm, PanAm 103 crashed on Lockerbie as I'd pass through there when I visited. I couldn't believe the devastation.
Dumfries is a nice looking town fucked over by a large ned/junkie/ThatsSoCouncil proportion of the populace.
In a 15 min visit I saw 3 folk drinking bottles of Buckfast in the street, half the high street is boarded up, it's just all a bit run down and sad. Some effort has been put in since I left in 2011, but I think it's just pissing into the wind
1976 Triumph Dolomite 1850HL - Field based greenhouse. 1977 Triumph Dolomite 1300 - Lean green oil dripping machine. 1983 Triumph Acclaim L - Japanglish daily runner. 1989 Volvo 740GLE Estate - Mobile storage unit.
Dropped the bx cylinder head done to an old school engineering place. Pressure check and light skim is 60 quid. Not had engine work done for twenty odd years but price seems good to me.
I've been to Dumfries quite a lot as we've caravanned in Southerness about ten times. That was the nearest town.
I didn't get the slightest impression that it was rough. It looked a bonny place to me.
