So I own this Peugeot 306.
Anyway, the back story is that her mother bought it in around 2002 I think it was. She used it daily, ran it up to about 270,000 miles and got really fond of it. Sadly she passed away three years ago but before she have it to my other half who was also fond of it.
So, it passed another mot a couple of years ago but a few days later I took off the interior trim for the c post to check for rot as these are notorious for rot there. And there was rot. so I welded it and wobbed it
I posted this on a forum called Autoshite but it upset their safe space and they went all Mumsnet on me (#emotions in deflated hot tubs ) after a few pages though a couple of the popular members on there said it was ok so they all changed their mind and I was praised instead.
It technically belongs to my other half and she told me to scrap it but I said no. I suppose that makes it mine...Peugeot 306. More 306 Tomfoolery

Re: Peugeot 306 shenanigans
Then a drunk millionaire in a Range Rover attacked it and pushed it into a wall
But before that cheque arrived I bought another 306 for £100, nicked the rear bumper and alloys then sold it to a friend for £100. I already had a spare rear light. it still rests in his yard. Ironically, doing this will probably have preserved it indefinitely as he rarely scraps anything!
So the 306 got another bumper, got its dents knocked out a bit and saw daily service once more.
He agreed to pay me £500 instead of going through the insurance and after a little while and me hassling him I finally got it.But before that cheque arrived I bought another 306 for £100, nicked the rear bumper and alloys then sold it to a friend for £100. The wobbage survived the shunt without causing the expected hilarity.

Re: Peugeot 306 shenanigans
So the 306 lived again for a few months until I drove it into a flood. I came around a corner and drove straight into it. I made the snap.decision to carry on slowly and make a bow wave, unfortunately it got rapidly deeper and stopped. There was a few inches of water in the footwells. So I got recovered by the AA. I filled the bores with oil so it wouldn't rust and then the 306 rested in the undergrowth for a year or so.
Then I took it apart to find out why the engine wouldn't turn anymore. I found this so I replaced all the rods and pistons from ones out of a turbo diesel. They looked exactly the same, despite people saying turbo and non turbo rods are different. Maybe that's just the later ones.
Anyway, it's all back together now and it nearly started but I think the timing is 180 out. I haven't had another look since but it will get done at some point. I'm most definitely not a born spannerer though so it may have other issues...

Re: Peugeot 306 shenanigans
So... Despite my other half running a very nice ZX, she really wanted another 306. But not just any old 306, its had to be a Kingfisher green example which are quite rare now.
Her brother (scruffy bodger) found one on eBay for £600 buy it now, described as a very nice example. So the buy it now button was pressed and the next day my trailer was hitched up and off we all went to mid Wales to collect it. Only 50 miles from here.
It was clearly a well looked after example with a good service history but due a cambelt. It also has much tinworm in the same place as the other 306 which wasn't mentioned in the advert.
Now I hate going back with an empty trailer so I offered them £300. It was accepted so here is a picture of it on the trailer pretty isn't it? Rare too So here are the grotty bits Never seen a 306 with rot inside the door shut before!

Re: Peugeot 306 shenanigans
Today I decided to have a better look at the 306. You can see rust flakes inside the boot
It's a turbo diesel by the way.
not so pretty behind the trim
Fucked some might say now I'm not exaggerating when I say that I literally just took hold of the seatbelt and took it off the car. It was like picking a raspberry.
Bear in mind that this was a very tidy, one lady owner since 2001 car. It had a full service history and a long mot. It's a turbo diesel by the way.

Re: Peugeot 306 shenanigans
This one will probably get broken. 'er indoors just uses her car for driving to the train station and leaving there all day so rarely carries passengers. This one is tested way into next year so I think I'll just put it back to together for now and analyse it properly next year.
I could sell the engine several times over for £200 and the axle for £60 so I won't be losing on it.
The other option which I quite like is to swap every panel into the heirloom 306 so she gets her mum's car AND a kingfisher green 306. It needs the rear quarters painting anyway
