Re: Wobland Spottage
Saw this through the fence today at a local second hand tyre and overpriced cars place. It was closed otherwise I would have been nosy and asked about it. You do see a few Gilberns around here as they were made nearby, but this is one I've not seen around before so possibly a bran find.
To lazy to get out of car and take better photo- mercrocker

So it's a gilbern? Only seen one at a show iirc.
As I suspected I was right about everything.

Re: Wobland Spottage
I didn't realise Gilbern made other cars. I thought the invader was the only one they did.
What model is it?

Mk2 Invader estate. Probably about 60 or so made. Still on its original alloys, too (I think they were actually Gilbern's own design from memory)

Re: Wobland Spottage
Yes, the Genie was developed into the Invader and was visually quite similar until the Invader Mk3 came out.
Before that they made a GT with firstly A-Series (and Coventry Climax) engines followed by MGA/MGB units....
Friend of mine had one, used to refer to it as his "Austin-Martin"
The later ones were all Ford V6 engined although the earlier Invaders were available with the V4 but I haven't come across any actual examples.

I'm not sure I've ever seen one of these in the flesh before, it does look nice. Not £10k nice though!

Re: Wobland Spottage
I had a Ghia Injection one as a company car at one stage. It went ok in straight line but the suspension was too soft and the traction was appalling.
10k is really taking the piss in my opinion but then so are the prices of most older Fords.
