Re: Roland's trials and tribulations
It certainly runs better now though. Think I'll leave it as is until I can afford the carb rebuild kit and I'll use the spare carb I have too.

Re: Roland's trials and tribulations
I've just had an awful idea. I have 2 HS2 carbs. Twin carb conversion?

Yes that's an awful idea, sort out what you have first.
Maybe add an extra radiator to get your capacity back?

Re: Roland's trials and tribulations
It is an awful idea as it would mean more work and fuel economy loss. The capacity isn't the issue,it's not having an expansion bottle that is an issue which was rectified on later ones and a common retrofit on earlier models. I've got a copper pipe in place of heater rad so a heater rad may not be a too bad an idea. Off down to mfn tonight so will see. It seems to be behaving so far. Also had inlet manifold off tonight to see if it had the port mods done as the previous owner was unsure if it had or not. It has been done which explains why it's quite nippy and decent amount of shove for a small engine

Re: Roland's trials and tribulations
A set of mikunis on it would probably make it get up and go a bit better ( if you were playing with carbs ) and you would probably be able to pick up s set that were here about right for that capacity engine.
Fingers crossed for the run out!

Re: Roland's trials and tribulations
I'm here,it's running fine. Not fucking about with carbs while it's working, no point. I've got a ford and a vw carb in shed if I feel like fucking around but it's behaving. Sits at 60 fine no noises or smoke.

Home made expansion bottle made and fitted. Near invisible right there. Joys of a rat.
