Finished up in color. That's the firewall almost done now.

So far it's just been rub down and repaint... the real grotty bits are further back.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
I now have brakes again. With the pedal adjusted up, it feels a lot better. I need to grease and oil the linkage, which should improve it further.
Do need to try and see if I can find a replacement cap for the brake reservoir. Fluid is a little grimy so it may be getting bled at some point, too.

I hope that the 'I'm sure that I had one and put it there' gremlin doesn't strike.
I've bought so many duplicate parts for mine due to that little bastard, only for the original to turn up when it's too late to return the new one. Mind you getting parts for a MGB might just be a trice easier.

Hopefully not. I've managed to keep most of it together... Some bits were missing from the outset, which doesn't help.
Plus, my grease gun arrived.

Cleaned all the old grease and gunge out of the steering box.
Filled it up with new grease. It's completely worn out but it'll have to do for now.
Finally, reassembled it all. I have brakes and steering again!

Undid the (37) bolts that hold the thing to the engine.
Lifted its heavy ass onto the floor with my engine crane. It weighs as much as the Renault's engine, assembled...
Some pleb has used lots of tacky blue sealant. I bet you a bit has come off and been ingested by a valve.
