What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

This is the difference between the two types, the longer and newer one being the Nivomat type. You should be able to tell which you have by counting the coils.

Finished my pre-MOT spannering & servicing on the Disco...

- the previous owner had twisted the hoses on the rear callipers when fitting new pads, my MOT bloke gave me an advisory for them last year so I popped off the callipers & untwisted them.
- fitted a standard centre silencer as part of troubleshooting a slight resistance to drop revs when changing between higher gears, I wondered whether the difference in back pressure from the straight pipe was to blame, although I can't see how it could be tbh. The Disco is now QUIET, no more rorty V8 bellow. Not sure if I like it, I'm obviously a chav.
- pigeon-shitted a weld seam I missed last year.
- had cracked windscreen replaced a week or so ago.
- changed all fluids last week.

Hopefully that should see it getting another 12-month ticket.

This is because you're man with the most underused and inaccessible PortaMig in the history of welding. ;)

I used that Portamig today. I actually accessed it.

Aaaaaand it's a pass... with only the standard Land Rover advisory (oil leak) :-)

With compliments, too. The tester said the Disco was in great shape for its age.

When I saw that picture it looked familiar. Without digging up threads, I would guess that it might be Partridge's, as I think he had a silver 405 not long ago.

I could be completely wrong though, but can't be arsed searching for any evidence to back up my gut instinct. Sure someone might be able to prove me wrong if they were so inclined, or were motivated enough to have a nose around.

Yes, I think you're right. Shame he dropped off the radar. I enjoyed his posts.

You should now be able to get the backend loose with a bit of left foot braking, great fun into roundabouts...
