Re: EBay Finds
Looked like a fairly honest barge until I saw the welding.
Looks like he's plug welded new panels over the old ones. Bizarre given it's not much easier than cutting out the originals and seam welding but does create massive water traps in the rear wheel arches...

I'm not seeing it myself.captain_70s wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 7:36 am Looks like he's plug welded new panels over the old ones.
It could be that it's early doors, but I'm seeing rot chopped out, butted patches at the tacked in stage and plug welds as per original Pug water traps.

Re: EBay Finds
Either way it seems an awful lot of work for a 405 diesel that must have been high mileage when he got it. I'm glad people are wanting to make the effort on old sheds like that though.

Of course that could well be the fitting stage and once plugged the grinder run around the edges for a perfect match to seam in.
I'm merely a negative bastard who assumes the worst.
It is an awful lot of effort to put into a worthless old Pug but I think I'd rather do that than attempt to buy something not on the edge of death for under a grand... At least you know where you stand with a car you've owned for a while.

I'll have another look on the desktop. The spot holes mid-panel join onto the floor flange I think.
I'm sure the vendor has 5,000,000,000,000 pictures to show exactly what he has done

RHD Plymouth Fury with 383 on Facebook, YJJ5G, bloke had just taken it as a swap and wants to know what it's worth.
About half a dozen previous owners have come forward saying how rotten it was when they had it and the engine was ready for a rebuild....
MOT history isn't promising before it was run as exempt, have a look at some of the advisories...

Re: EBay Finds
It looks like either someone got a lot of welding done or found a dodgy MOT tester for the last two tests.
