Post by Frogchod »

As you may have seen in the grin thread I'm in the process of buying a DS.

Yesterday I went to have a play to see if I could get it started. It's not run since 2012.

I added some fuel which promptly leaked out of the tank. Then topped up the water which promptly leaked out of a core plug. The LHM which seems to scare most people was at an ok level.
No sparks, but a bit of good old points cleaning sorted that.

Fuel was fed from a temporary can.

A bit of turning over and it lives.

Car rises and moves under its own power so it'll be easy to load onto a trailer.
I've not payed for it yet as the documents are not quite in order so it may be a few weeks before collection can occur.
Meanwhile I'm scaring myself looking at panel prices on the web

I’m shocked the suspension etc worked that easily straight away! I’d have thought that would have been the first thing to screw up.

So, the million Franc question, just how rotten is it!?

But it's France. The land of fibreglass repairs and quick paint jobs to pass a CT.

Correct me if I'm wrong but things have been tightened up considerably.

You are correct.
Daft thing is that I've got to drag it in for a CT before I can register it. Which must be done within 30 days.
I think that test will be just a check of vin number, no point in dragging it off the trailer.

That doesn't look too bad and at least being in France means you stand a chance of finding parts at reasonable prices.
