Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Have you redecorated while you were there? Most be a hell of a Hoover to vac the wall paper off the ceilings

Went to a best mates Nikah (Muslim Wedding) in London yesterday. Quite a different experience and a good one at that. Certainly makes traditional Western weddings very stiff and boring in comparison. Lack of alcohol was less of an issue than you'd expect. Probably helped by us drinking the Marriott out of their Moet stock the night before. 🤣

They went off to their hotel in this Roller. Nice car even if I suspect there is a lot of filler underneath that shiny paint. They unfortunately did screw in plates that said "1955 Silver Cloud" into the rear trays. No doubt any future owner will have fun rectifying that and the issues resulting from post-wedding runs across a salt laden London.

The Bentley S1 variant is surprisingly affordable second hand. I mean they're still pretty expensive but not unrealistically. For me, they look great in black.

They're lovely old things, aren't they....S1/Cloud 1 have the straight six - IIs/IIIs have the V8s which I guess affects the price of the earlier cars. I hired one for my daughter's wedding - the fella had two identical Seychelles Blue ones just to ensure reliability. Sadly, wedding useage doesn't do them any favours - even in the hands of someone sensitive to old cars - like you say salt (my daughter was married in between blizzards) and weekly hammerings don't help. The one we rode in had a lot of clunks and clonks, unlike the smooth rides I have enjoyed in these cars beforehand.

Needless to say, they rot like fuck too. Standard steel coachwork was basically Pressed Steel and shipped up to Crewe in the "white"

Yeah this was a straight six example. Super quiet even standing outside. Looking at that cars details, it looks like they purchased it in 2020. The driver wasn't the owner and they have an "office". Probably sympathetic driver as he won't want to break company property. Plus London is almost all 20mph and 30mph limits now, so most of its life will be spent running around at idle on those speeds.

No doubt when it gets too frilly/rust breaks through the filler and troublesome, they'll punt it on again as it's made its money and then get something else to replace it.

Check out the sill already....No finisher because its too wobbly to take one! Time was, only Barbara Cartland was responsible for white Clouds! Still a classy carriage for the day though, no doubt.

When you see those in wedding car service the door/sill fit is always wobbly as fuck.

I imagine they're fairly naff to drive, being from the era when one was driven in their Rolls rather than drove it themselves. The earlier cars are the lookers, the SIII with the quad lights and chunky side/indicator light housings looks a bit naff.
The Bentley versions always look better, inc the T Series, due to the Rolls grille looking shite on anything made post 1930s.

MOT exempted now though so structural foam and filler is the way to go to keep it looking tidy

The Muslim wedding I went to was fabulous - the groom explained to me that they don't have a guest list and RSVP - basically everyone/anyone can come and if they turn up you are expected to feed them. The catering organisation out the back was something else. That does mean they unburdened with all the twattery and moaning about who sits where, and who is invited and whether kids are allowed, which are all points I've seen stupid Bridezillas and their families arguing about.

This was a bit different as it was like 70 on her side and 10 on my best mates side. Basically his brothers+partners, his mum and Mrs SiC and I. Essentially it was to formalise everything so they could (officially) live together and the like to keep everything on her side of the family tickety-boo.

None of us on my best mate side (him included) didn't really have a clue what was going on. Thankfully a cracking day for weather, so we spent a lot on the grooms side just hanging out outside. Because none of us had a clue what was going on, it was just a case of going with the flow which made it more fun as you didn't know what to expect.

Imam was a lovely chap. Local to where we used to live (i.e. not London) and helped explain the process. He was supposed to be going to Pakistan for seeing family last and this week but delayed it so he could do my mates wedding for him.

Haha no. That needs remedy, and I'm not doing it. I hate wallpaper.

The downstairs bedrooms however are wood-panel-tastic.

Last bits of tidying up before we leave.
