Two wheels good.

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I can obviously make it do a lot less but it's a 1,402cc lump doing 3,600rpm at 70mph so it's not working hard at all when cruising. The massive torque from near idle means you hardly ever move the throttle much either, places your dullville would need to drop a few gears to overtake just needs a slight twist of throttle in 6th etc etc

I didn't expect it to be doing that many revs at 70mph to be honest given the power/ weight ratio

Well it goes to 9k so is geared for about 190mph already. Some people do lengthen the gearing but find they have to start using the gearbox. As standard it'll pull from idle at 20mph in 6th till it's off the clock at 160mph without changing gear, that makes it pretty flexible to ride.

I dread to think what is like trying to hang on with no fairing if you reached anywhere near what it's geared for!

It's drafty at 163 indicated which is all it does. Last time I did it was in a pisspot too so chin on the tank and look between the clocks.

I like the idea of them, an adventure bike light enough to use off road. They need more than 22bhp though and from I hear the finish and some welding is dire.

They produce 24.5 bhp I'll have you know! Plenty enough for use on gravel tracks and unpaved roads, where I rarely see GS1200's. Its not great on motorways as its at the redline most of the time, and can't keep up with the GS's that seem to use them.

The welding on my 2019 model is fine, although I should weld some stregthening bars on the rack, as its only rated to carry 5 kgs. Finish on mine is still great, and it lives outside under a plastic cover. But then it rarely sees rain and doesn't know what salt is.

For the price, it is a hugely capable off roader straight from the factory. Compared to a Chinese produced bike, it is streets ahead in quality, and as good, if not better, than similar sized KTM's and BMW's

Sorry I doubted the massive power output  I'm sure it's plenty off-road, I was thinking a bit more for the roads in-between the tracks would be nice.

My comment on welding was based on having read that some early ones snapped at the headstock when used properly off-road. 5kg sounds normal for racks, I think my Givi for the GSX14 is rated the same. I can't recall on the Sprint.

In other news, I spoiled the GSX14 yesterday. It got an oil & filter change then new tyres as the front was borderline illegal & the rear was pretty square along with being the wrong profile I'd tried to make up for the wrong shocks it used to have. It's off for a weekend in Scotland for an owners meet over the first weekend in April, so it'd have needed a front tyre before that anyway.
