1974 Chrome bumper MGB Roadster and very early 1968 VW T2.
I've had the MGB since 1/10/76.

Re: EBay Finds
My local favourite garage has the older guy (mid/late 50s), who is one of the owners, only does MOTs now. Being older and experienced both in MOTs and older cars he has a realistic attitude to rust and wear. DVSA is only around the corner, so I know it's a fair MOT too.
So anything that one of my classics fails on, it definitely isn't safe and could definitely be picked up by a copper or insurance assessor in an accident. I like also it keeping history topped up on a car. Especially as it's searchable and everyone interested in cars does it. Yes it costs money, but it's going to a small business and a small thing that is keeping them in business. They treat me well and have saved an awful lot of money over the years from their good labour rates and cash in hand jobs.
I did take my MGB around the local classic car friendly garage for its last MOT. It did pass, but had a whole list of advisories on rust and the like which feel were a bit over zealous. Especially as most were light surface rust.

Re: EBay Finds
Not quite old enough for historic tax yet. It'll be next year for those built/registered in 1979.
Don't think you can get MOT exemption either as you can't declare it in the historic tax class as I think they're linked. However I'm sure will say if that's wrong.
Re: EBay Finds
Asked to view the E28 but the guy has someone viewing on Friday and I can't get there before Sunday, 'cause bike shop. Arse.
