What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Not driven it for 2 - 3 weeks and the first 100 metres were awful: like how the hell did I put up with this thing for 3 years? awful. everything is heavy, even the gearchange...

But then it all fell back into place and I remembered what a brilliant car it is, everything is positive and precise and though every control needs a firm prod/push, it all works fine and fuck me, it's a quick old lump and the roof off makes it an aural delight :)

Jag booked in for Thursday to have the sensors looked at though I suspect it's wiring or the module due to non of them cicking.
I'm running an SLK 350 at the moment, reasonably brisk with 272 bhp and the ride isn't bad. I don't really do Mercs but it's ok.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

True.

I normally only carry my phone with me when I'm driving. The garage is only 50 yards away around the corner so I couldn't be arsed taking it.

I was thinking that when I read it. I'd literally turn around and have gone home as soon as I realise I haven't got my phone on me.

I'm retired, I don't need to be contactable 24/7 any more.
I had enough of that as a consultant.

Being old is not so bad, your time is your own. I'm not going to have my mobile disturbing the peace as I'm wandering along the seashore.

You have a phone to be contactable? God you must be old! 🤣

A phone is a camera, money maker, money spender, knowledge source and boredom killer. Like many others in my age group and younger, I rarely make calls on mine!

I am old and happily so. I leave all the wandering around staring at mobiles to my sons although I still don't know how they manage to avoid walking into things.

As Arthur C. Clarke once said :

A well-stocked mind is safe from boredom.

I never ring people on mine and it winds me up when people ring me.
What's wrong with texting or whatsapp? That way I'll answer you in my own time not when I'm up a ladder or under a bath.
