Lord have Mercy. How BMW ruined the Elvis 507

Of all the cars to completely rebuild to perfection, wiping away all traces of history. The workmanship is astounding, but......

That's just vandalism.
It's like gutting an old house and painting it in magnolia emulsion.
I don't like the fake patina trend in, say, the VW world but this had proper patina and probably a story to tell.

But why?
I was always under the impression that the people in that market wanted cars with a bit of patina or whatever whereas now it could be any 507 that had been restored or a toolroom copy (is that the correct phrase for a specific type of replica?).

They won't stop until the last cool car has been made into a soulless shadow of its former self.

Fair enough, I guess that it's all about image nowadays and everything has to be perfect, in their eyes.
Is it middle Eastern rugs that have to have a deliberate error as only God does perfection?

Apparently a lot of Germans like that sort of thing. Chuck them to a bunch of teddy boys instead. This just fuels my argument that only British rock and roll fans know how to properly preserve the legacy.

So they don't have a sense of decency. Is nothing sacred any more?

I've been to an event in Munich that featured 'the German Elvis' Peter Kraus despite actually being Austrian.

The same event had Simply Red.

I kid you not:
