What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Higher that fuel gets the better imo. Last time it got ridiculously expensive, it made the roads lovely and quiet! Looking at forecasts, it doesn't look likely it'll get any cheaper soon. Demand has gone up now rather speculative investment pushing it up previously. If anything the analysts reckon it could go up quite a bit more.

Hasn’t made a difference to traffic here and people are still tearing around as if fuel were free.

Downside is you can hear all the bumps rumbles and squeaks when you drive now.

I actually re-fitted my rattling boot handle on the Minor for that very reason. It's quite a comforting, fully-understood and worry-free noise and one that certainly over-rides the loose passenger window lifter and the once-a-day clonk as the boot prop falls out of its rubber clip AGAIN.

I suppose I should really go around the car and fix all that stuff but I haven't done so in 18 years and it would now probably involve a nut-and-bolt restoration.

Met Maxxo over the water this morning to buy a phone from him.
He recently bought a citroen XM with no mot which was also a non runner for a grand. He's since spent £1300 getting it through the mot and getting it running.
What a machine though. 2.2 turbo diesel. Massive in the back. It must have been pure luxury when it was new.

Probably. It was absolutely fucked when he got it. Cills fillied with expanding foam and filler, just the usual.
I want his c5 estate if he ever sells it. All his cars end up perfect.

Bought a new battery for the GTA. Fired up, ran well. Drives well too, aircon works still and the brakes work properly.

Poked about a bit, cleaned some contacts, still got problems. Alternator isn't regulating again. Either the regulator is toast or it's not grounding right. Starter is getting intermittent, smells like the solenoid contacts are dirty.

Do I throw some paint on it, tidy it up, fix the issues and ask more, or just cut my losses and get shot of it as it is?
