Can you lay a few strips onto it to brace it up or just knock up a collar and weld it over it before the metal degrades any more?Drum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:54 pm The Perkins exhaust fanny mould had torn in a spiral, requiring some fence wire bodgery to get me home the other week.
It has seen the welder before

The gap didn't want to close properly making it easy to blow through with the welder.

All blobbed over. Place bets on how long it lasts.

That design idea had an awful lot to commend about it. Especially for it's actual intended target market. It's almost like they asked people who might buy it what they would like in a vehicle! Obviously they slipped up slightly by not offering a diesel version for tight arse farmers from the get go though, Project Iceberg the dieselized rover V8 could have been an absolute game changer compared to the weight of Perkins lumps from that period if they could have made it work.LynehamHerc wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:49 pm How about an original Rangie with a hose down interior?

It will probably come to that the next time it fails. A new manifold is the other option, but they exit in the wrong direction so would need cut and welded anyway.Scruffy Bodger wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 8:15 pmCan you lay a few strips onto it to brace it up or just knock up a collar and weld it over it before the metal degrades any more?Drum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:54 pm The Perkins exhaust fanny mould had torn in a spiral, requiring some fence wire bodgery to get me home the other week.

A local village hall had a classic and cherished show today. Very badly advertised, it only was announced on their Facebook page yesterday. I didn't bother taking the MGB as it was walking distance and I couldn't be bothered to pull it out of storage.

Aussie bush favourite spec land cruiser! I thought they couldn't sell them here because of the emissions.
Some nice cars there!

The orange Cortina (next to the Honda NSX) is owned by the chap who cleans our windows. Was going to talk to him but I could sense Mrs SiC was distinctively bored in the 5 mins we were there and wanted to carry on with a walk.
Quite telling that the Austin A40 Devon (I think?) had its ignition keys left in there with the door open but no one around. Despite that, it was left undisturbed.
If they do another, I'll go along in something but without Mrs SiC in tow. Can at least have a natter with a few people there then.
Shame they didn't announce it better too.

Had one back in the mists o time and it was... hateful, did 90mph up the A38 to Exeter and you really could see the fuel gauge move and the road noise was horrific.LynehamHerc wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:49 pm How about an original Rangie with a hose down interior?
Great fun in the snow though and very useful for horseboxes etc

Re: What did you do today?
Hello, sticking my head in again.
Fleet consists of the Civic sedan (13 months owned and counting, a personal record), and a late mk1 MX5 that I daily.
It's also a year since my mum sold her Bini and has since ended up with two Civics instead, low miles 1989 and 1996 autos.
I'd arranged to look at an imported CRX del Sol in Knottingley today (want to avoid driving the MX5 in salt), but halfway into my lift over Woodhead the seller rang me and told me he'd sold it, the cunt.
