I have a head start here, so if you need anything besides sheet metal and wob, please liaise with me before anyone else rips you off.
Thanks. Decided to break yours then? I have loads of bits, should have most parts I need. Could do with a rust free front bumper though...
Not breaking mine. It still has surprisingly little wob in it, dark or otherwise.
There is a non rust free front bumper on mine, I wonder where that came from.
But I know where you could get one, if you are interested.

Sadly even parts cars are expensive now, otherwise I'd have suggested to share one.

I would need the following bits if you have them:

Upper left quarter windscreen surround stainless trim.
1 set of the roof stainless trim, the two pieces on the 'fin'. I'm not sure whether they are sided, or same L/R.
RH aluminium 'banana' for the bonnet.
1 wheel/rim.
Crankcase ventilation pipe.
RH headlight mounting with height adjuster mechanism.
Both front wings.
LH front door.

I wasn't serious, yours is a lovely example. Just needs a bit of cosmetic attention. Surely Mike has or can get all the bits you may need?

Sadly it needs a lot more than that. Every week I discover more rot.
It's still quite small, but it breaks out everywhere.

Inevitable really I suppose. That's why I keep the Standard dry whenever possible. Never been welded and I intend to keep it that way.

Anyway, there are now some painted panels on my Renault. Not too bad either. One cock up. A small bit of paint reaction on the drivers door. My fault, either I didn't wait long enough for the primer to dry or I got a bit excited and put too.much paint on. It's all got to be sanded back anyway with 1200 set and dry and painted again. It's the best way to get a proper shine with cellulose. I don't do 2k

You can see why bodywork is so expensive, this has taken a fair bit of time. Not even halfway yet. I could do with a decent tailgate too, but may repair mine. Undecided as yet.

Spent the entire evening refitting the backdoor and attempting to get it and the front one into alignment. Gave up and came inside for a beer. What a hateful job

Much like. Though I sympathise with your door fitting woes. I hate doing bodywork.

Did a bit more on the Renault. The front wing was in bare metal so thought I should prime it. The swage line isn't anywhere near right but I'll sort that later.

While the wing was off I thought I would have a poke about. Found a hole

great. That looks awkward to weld up. Well, not so much the actual welding but the removal of a bracket that has been there for 51 years.

Had a good look in the engine bay. More rot

Same underneath. Some small holes but also quite a few patches that aren't too pretty.

For those of you who don't know, the R16s have an large plate underneath the engine bay to keep everything dry.(well, more like gearbox bay) It also has some ugly looking patches. Think I'll just chop it off. It'll be easier to make a decent job of the rotten chassis rail too. I can then leave the underneath bit for a while. It's not structural. This was just meant to be a respray, not another weldathon!

Not entirely unexpected I suppose. It was last on the road in 1987 and has been stood outside most of that time.

Just wish I had more space. I have a nice wide garage but it isn't really long enough. I just relocate all the shelves into a shed really

Thanks God mine is perfectly sound in and around the gearbox bay.
What's much more concerning is what's happening slightly back from the rear doors...
