Cars haven't had soul since before the millenium. The last modern I had that I enjoyed was a 1999 saxo vts.

I quite enjoy driving our Citigo and Up!, maybe because their relative lack of power doesn't show where I drive them. Or it may be because I'm old, added before Paul and Hooli did.

"Soul" is an almost unidentifiable (maybe just un-explainable) thing though. I feel my Focus does not have it but my Mk5 Fiesta did. After my Mk2 Granadas (which did) I felt my Mk3 didn't - maybe it would feel different 25 years on.

Nah, "Soul" is OK. It means a bit more than character, maybe a feeling of connection with the car's design intent, the folk that built it or summat. I get it from some cars and not others and very seldom anything modern (i.e. 21st century). Cars acquire character but are made with "soul".

Re: The 'modern cars are shit' thread.
My Doblo has no soul, but it is the most versatile car I have ever owned, but dull, dull, dull.
I want a V8 again, but something that sounds like a V8 should. Am I mental to be considering a TVR? Little rain, and importantly no salt on the roads here should mean issues with the frame should not occur.
Only having a cursory look around, but few V8 cars (outside of American) have tye "right" sound.

A TVR sounds good in both meanings of the word.
Is there a Spanish TVR club or offspring of the UK one?

No club here in Spain, nor an offshoot of the UK Owners club. Lots to consider even if I do manage to find one for sale, like getting spares, finding a decent mechanic, auto electrician, etc.LynehamHerc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 11:15 am A TVR sounds good in both meanings of the word.

If I was in the UK, I think I'd already have one!
