I asked if I could take a picture and he said go right ahead. His girlfriend was sitting in it but ducked down for me.

Had a walk around near my girlfriends house in London as she said there were a few older cars in the vicinity. Not as many as there were though, and come August all this will be inside the ULEZ. There were plenty of older Mercs, Golfs, Volvos and Civics but I didn’t take pictures of those as they’re relatively common.
The first thing I noticed were the amount of houses, mostly 30s semis, which had been bought by Indians and totally ruined, what they normally do is extend them to the side and into the roof, then build a massive wall with gold railings and electric gates, and gold windows. Saw two where they had obviously bought both adjoining semis and knocked them together to make one big house, including the usual extensions.
There were a handful of more original houses left, including this one, but I’m sure its time is limited as it had recently had a load of trees chopped down in the front garden.

This Primera was parked outside a massively extended, two-semis knocked into one house with about ten modern high end cars on the drive. I suspect grandad is made to park on the road to avoid oil stains on the drive, or perhaps he can’t navigate the electric gates.

The Acclaim and Volvo 240 are brilliant. A total eyesore on a street full of block paved drives and Range Rovers.

One for Eddy. This Cadillac used to sit outside a house nearby that has a driveway full of Yank cars, and sat there for about 15 years. At some point in the last year or two it was moved to its current resting place. Very rusty and I think it’s been hit twice while parked. Shame, the interior looked surprisingly good on it.

Then there’s this Mk3 Cortina estate which is languishing in the car park of a block of council flats. Same owner since 1981, full of filler and untaxed since November. Obviously hadn’t moved for months, poor thing.

Never understood the mentality of leaving a car to rot. Why not punt it on while it's still got value?
I understand memories etc but still.

This little beauty was in the pub carpark when I went to watch the rugby.
Talked to the owner. He said it had just recently been imported from Japan.
660cc's of JDM power. No turbo, but 3 individual throttle bodies.
He bought it in Reading, and was driving back up to Burnley. His missus called time on the journey, and demanded a stop over before they continued the journey.

Excellent safari there, AD....Can't believe that '58 Coupe de Ville is still languishing like that. There was a similar vintage Buick hardtop in Southampton outside very similar housing but that was over 30 years ago now....

Sadly I think that Caddy is going to end up like the Jaywick Chevy.

Almost certainly. I’m surprised it hasn’t been dragged away already.
Same with the Cortina estate. Especially as it’s been photographed a few times (it’s visible from the main Road) and is currently untaxed.

I just feel compelled to say wow! Some great rare finds there - just goes to show what is about even in densely populated areas, albeit in unfortunate circumstances. The old house is lovely, but I’m afraid the fantastic (not to mention incredibly rare) Crittal-type windows will soon be subject to some cultural enrichment and lost forever. Fuck.

The Indianised houses are truly gopping. You can see one in the process of being ruined in the background of the picture of the left side of the Caddy, apparently it was a very original house prior to being sold. You can just see the gold porch of the adjoining house too. Some of the houses have statues of Ganesh and others on the railings.
The older Indians love their old Mercs and 80s/90s Japanese cars, while the younger ones all drive flashy German cars and Range Rovers. All seemingly locked into this desperate competition with their neighbours as to who can display the most wealth and least taste.
