Re: What did you do today?
I can't think of many truly bad Renault petrol engines? Certainly in the modern era of the last 25 years or so. All pretty decent power outputs with reasonable economy too.
Ones come to mind are the IDE horrific junk but they only lasted a year or so, easily identifiable and not many made. Dephaser had issues on the 1.6/1.8/2.0 but a cambelt job is essentially the labour required. So not really that bad and it gave you plenty of noisy warning with no real reported bad failures apart from bad running. Crank sensor connector gave them bad reputations of sudden breakdowns but now known and easily sorted now.
Diesels mixed bag during their 2000 malaise era. Early 1.5dci (pre 2002 iirc) could nuke the fuel system as dodgy parts (iirc Delphi injection system were the issue and mostly Clio II). 2.2dci horrific junk. 1.9dci was a bit shit when EGR inevitably gunked up but I think was okay otherwise. 2.0dci good unit but Nissan derived. V6 diesel was another horrible junk engine but that was Isuzu derived and shat itself in pretty much every application (Renault/Saab/Vauxhall) and didn't last long either.

My Mrs managed to destroy the gearboxes on TWO Renault Clios I had.
Not the main reasons she became the former Mrs Woking, but a contributing factor!

Re: What did you do today?
Took the Enfield for its first ITV (MOT) today. Started out as a bit of a faff because the tester wanted to see the matriculation certificate for the Akropovic endcan. It hasn't got one, but does have an (AliExpress) aluminium decal on it, covering a bit of a gouge i put in it when I crashed it.
He went and got another tester to come and look at it to check it. Told them it was just a sticker, so got the AliExpress item up on my phone to show them. I then had to WhatsApp them both the link so they could buy some.
Passed the test, next one in two years

Re: What did you do today?
You'd think that my wanting to buy a brand new bike would be easy. Nope. Three Honda dealers have not replied to my email enquires, and one of their dealers I visited, the sales staff just sat at their desks, ignoring me.
The only dealer I have been to where the staff are interested in customers is the Enfield, Harley and Indian dealer. Could not be more helpful, but they don't have a bike that fits my requirements.
Think the Dullvile will be in my care a bit longer now, although with clean air zones coming locally, and already introduced in much of Europe, its days are numbered. Shame as it has 10's of thousands of miles of life left in it.

Siesta time for the salesmen?
Alternatively are there major supply issues which might explain them not wanting to interact with you?

Re: What did you do today?
Current owner has just sent me a picture of the P4 I'm buying where he's just gone from Windsor on the motorway thru Central London traffic. Apparently performed flawlessly.
Rather reassuring as I'd much rather it be a working project! I probably could have driven it back instead of having it transported. Just don't have a day free to take off at the moment to do that. Sods law it would have broken down and taken many hours for recovery.

Re: What did you do today?
Sunday actually..... But e46 330ci MoT prep commenced. Previous seized caliper had been swapped out - but not before warping the disc - so that was swapped out.
Hopefully by the end of this week.
and on to the passenger side..... Bit more of a fuck on really.... Battled with this little arsehole for a good 2hrs
Before I remembered I'm a pillock and had this sitting waiting
So I ended up with this
Then the weather turned and I left the nearside rear for later.... Then it'll be bleed and in for a ticket Hopefully by the end of this week.

So far my choice of car has been vindicated, managed at least to stay on the Windermere to Keswick rd, presumably Farmer Defender Boy was driving like a cock.
