Stupid questions about motorised conveyances

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

A 4 cylinder Merc , ie an E or C 220, might better that by 5 mpg or so . But you’d miss the torque and smoothness after a 320. Seeing as that’s barely run in ( copyright ; every Merc diesel ad. ever) stick with what you’ve got.

One for L-R aficionados.....

I have Defender mirrors on the T25 as the originals are dogshit. They mount via an adapter plate which in itself is rigid enough but I am getting movement in the heads. The arms and heads were bought on Ebay and were supposed to be Bearmach but I think I've been misled. The arms are behaving themselves and fold back in and out when I park up but the heads are just plain wobbly.

In use, they turn in any kind of headwind and are a pain in the arse. Any suggestions for a quality* set of arms and heads that will stay fucking put once adjusted?

May well have done...I've had these for a couple of years or more but only just got round to fitting them.

Yeah, I could indeed fix it firm - the arms would still swivel - but I am reluctant to do so in case it gets twatted and just breaks the head instead of mis-aligning it. What's needed is the correct degree of flex without showing me my rear wheel arch every time the wind blows the wrong way.
