What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

New wheel bearing arrived from rockauto today and the hearse is back in the game. I gave it a 50 mile shakedown run this afternoon and hopefully it is ready for the trip to Le Mans starting tomorrow night. I also change the steering idler but the new one makes the steering feel worse with a bit of wandering. I will swap it back in the morning. The old one was fine on the road but has a bit of play in it.

Started second try, as usual. Took a while to get the oil round but it drove okay, put about 50 miles on it yesterday.

Replaced a rear light bulb on a Mini convertible today..What a faff. There is an inspection cover which is useless so you have to remove the carpet. Remove the plastic trim with two torx. You have to lift the back of the roof first. It won't get completely out of the way due to the glass and rear seat rollbar.Propped it up with a broom. The boot opens like the classic mini with cable stays.Remove one cable by its larger torx to get the plastic trim off. As I was on my own wasn't sure if the boot would hit the bumper without the cable connected so held it up with my knee whilst doing a thirty second bulb replacement. If they had made the inspection cover larger so you could remove the bulb holder unit the job would have taken a minute.

Two buckets!? Are you taking the piss. I just use one with hot water with half a bottle of fairy liquid. It shifts anything and leaves a lovely shine*.

I took the Jag out for a change, and immediately regretted it as Mr Sun came out to play pretty much instantly, the sod had been hiding all morning up to then! But, the old girl needed to come out to play, not been used in 9 days, the horror! It was covered in dust and dirt so I took it to the IMA car wash which was a first for me, never been thru one of these new fangled jobs before.

It cost £12 (which pained me greatly) but it did do a jolly good job and amused me and the mutts as we got covered in foam and blasted with water. Came home and polished it, it's hot out there chaps...

Wiper mechanism all greased up and put back together, now working. Buggered one grommet so need to glue it.
Dashboard back in, I had pulled a wire off the lightswitch, now refitted. Battery on charge, but not sure what flattened it, so left it disconnected.

At this rate will have it back together just in time for it to piss down with rain so I won't use it.
