Yes mate. It didn't help trying to start it with the firing order mixed up either, after I fitted the Bakelite H.T. lead ends.

I doubt that would really have done any damage unless you managed a monumental backfire at just the wrong point to bend a valve?

No, nothing like that. The reason I checked the valve clearances in the first place was because it wasn't running right.

That's the trouble with six-pots! You must be a bit of an expert at chesting a gearbox, now though.....

Compression test results are in.
1&2: zero
3,4,5&6: 150 psi.
With the compression tester screwed into 1 or 2, there is a chuffing sound coming from the other plug hole. I think the cylinder head needs to come off.
