I hadn’t been to this event for 13 years but decided to go on a whim. It’s only 10 minutes away for me.
The Mid Lincs Rover club organised this show until they folded last year. I remember in 2010 a large quantity of P4/5/6/SD1 and a nice separate little area where other classics, all pre 1980, were parked.
Unfortunately, times have moved on. The minimum age seems to have been removed by the new organisers and it was infested with modern cars. Such delights as a 2018 BMW (electric) a 2020 Mustang and 2016 MG3 were all parked between the classics. There were loads of 2000s era Japanese and German performance cars as well, which are of no interest to me, loads and loads of MGBs and, as for Rovers, 99% of them were Rover 75/ZT which were all parked in their special parking area. There were a couple of P6s, three P4s, a P3, two SD1s. As for newer ones, there were a couple of 200/25, a couple of 400s, one 600 (in the visitor car park!) and two 800s.
Why the 75 is so popular I have no idea really.
My Hampshire was unfortunately parked up in a line of modern Japanese performance stuff, Impreza/Skyline/MR2 etc, and the owners obviously arrived together and got their deckchairs out and were talking across the back of my car. After 15 minutes a lovely pre war Austin and a Jowett Bradford turned up in convoy so I made the executive decision to move my car down and park next to them where it was in much more appropriate company.

Is that held where Just Jane lives? The buildings look familiar but I saw nothing about it in the newsletter.

That’s right, yes. They had Just Jane fired up and taxied it around the airfield. We had a fly past from PA474 too.
I do love the Lancasters but they have become less exciting since moving here. I live between East Kirkby and RAF Coningsby where PA 474 is based and it regularly flies over the house in the summer.

Nice photos, pretty good turn out considering the weather was a bit pants yesterday. Not sure when I last went but there were not as many cars there then. I was of course fettling the Anglia as you know and it did indeed burst into life after nearly three years and ran like a top. Good to meet you today (finally!) and thanks for the ride in LOB, that was most enjoyable.
