Driving without MOT

First and most obviously ensure that insurance is in place.

Then consider the purpose of the journey. You can travel to/from a pre-arranged test without tax or MOT. After a test, you can also travel to/from a place of repair, pre-arranged, to get repairs done on the items failed. You can't do this until you have your failed MOT. In both cases no distance is prescribed in law, only the purpose of journey. You can still get done at any time under construction and use regulations.

Weighing it up, the Jaaag had NO dangerous faults on the sheet, two major and the minor ones don't count. The suspension, steering, brakes and tyres were all ok. That'll do me.

Under Regulation 6 of The Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981 are these useful exemptions.

• for the purpose of submitting it by previous arrangement for, or bringing it away from, an examination
• where a test certificate is refused on an examination—
  for the purpose of delivering it by previous arrangement at, or bringing it away from, a place where work is to be or has been done on it to remedy for a further examination the defects on the ground of which the test certificate was refused
• a vehicle proceeding to a port for export

I couldn't get in here earlier. I had to take shit loads out with the lad (and put most of it back in again, just better stacked) in order to get the big beast out. It was in the back left corner below the shit strimmer.

The beast unleashed, I'll throw it in the car tomorrow and take it along with the smoller one (as the smol one has 0.6 wire in it) over in preparation for a weldathon. Might need to get another regulator and BFO bottle sorted. I've no idea what this will be like on beer can metal. If it's a big hole burner, I might have to chop it in for a Portamig.

Good to hear. Too late to buy a new transformer-based set because nonsense efficiency rulez.

This one has never been used. Father Honda bought it with the intention of doing his mega gate. Brought it over a few years back, but parked it in the corner and go buried. Still using the Cebora 130 that's easier to get to.

Cebora used to make good stuff too years ago. Iirc I did the Justy with .8 wire as that was what was in it. If any of it is really thin you can always turn the gas up a bit and hold the torch further away to lose some amps and help stop it blowing thru.
Obviously if it's been stood all this time make sure you throw away any rusty wire off the top of the reel to stop it contaminating the liner. When spot, spot spotting you want an instant arc, no fucking around and those Lincolns will definitely do that.
