Re: EBay Finds
Given the prices similar Fords go for it's cheap.
My late brother had a N/A one and that was a good car, nearly as good as my Mk2 GTi.

Lordy...I remember borrowing Raymondo's 2.0EFi and whilst a swift motor it was still a Maestro. In fairness it was only £200 at the time.
If you said to me then that a Turbot would be 10 bags now, I'd have said you were fucking crackers.

Re: EBay Finds
My dad had a 1.3 Maestro for 10 days.
He looked at an overtake, decided not and bloke behind had booted assuming he was going, cue one Maestro in the ditch. He replaced it with a Montego estate.

Re: EBay Finds
A very good mate of mine was the sales manager for a BL dealership and got a new car every three months. He alternated between the Montego Turbo and the Maestro Turbo for an age before getting a Rover 820 or a 825 as his boss was fed up with him bending the Turbo's.
He got a one-month ban after being clocked at over 120 on the Parkway into Plymouth in a Montego Turbo and he had to get trains everywhere for a month. Still, worked out well for me as I got to go with him (as a driver) to a load of the BL group closed auctions and the prices those boys paid for 3 - 6 month old cars would make you wallet bleed.
John was such a dyed-in-the-wool BL man he could tell what month a car was built by the colour and thickness of the rubbing strips. Strangely, he was never boring, honest!

He also managed to get my dad a brand new painted and panelled Princess shell least than 3 months after the Princess launch when the official line was shells were not going to be available for about another year (and that was the reason the car was written off).

Re: EBay Finds
What modern would £10k buy you though? Fuck all really and the maestro would be 100% more reliable.

Re: EBay Finds
Loads of moderns that would be faster and far more reliable??
Hell, even the TT Mk1 is more reliable than a Maestro turbo.

Re: EBay Finds
I suppose it depends what you want from a car.
I didn't realise any stats were available for Maestro Turbos, especially given the very limited production run.
