Tonight I'm doing a jig saw puzzle.
Had an idea what the problem was without taking it apart but now it's split it was easy to see the problem with getting it running.
Yep that missing lip on the seal wouldn't have been doing crank case compression any favours.
Wierdly the ignition timing has been set to maximum advance or retard, it did sound quite soft when we had it running so that probably hasn't helped. Will need to look up how to time it correctly.
Looks like it has had a semi recent rebuild. Strangely now it's stripped there is no play in the mains. Bore is still fresh and it's still 50cc.16 Year olds dream - Aprilia RS50
