Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Not really. He just likes Amercan cars. He's perfectly normal otherwise.

It wasn't today but last Thursday I had to go out to this and get it going as it had a wedding to do. The poor thing lives in a container and allegedly comes out reguarly. The state of the plugs and corrosion on one of the carb needles makes me think it has been a while. We did get it going but it would only run on three. It actually sounded pretty good at tick over but you could take the rear three plug leads off and it made no difference. The bloody thing would even run on just 2 cylinders whilst finding the miss fire. It really needs new leads and a cap but there was no time to get parts in. I left it on Friday with the driver cleaning the plugs yet again to see if he could get it to the venue for saturday. I didn't hear any more so maybe it managed to limp along and get the bride to the church on time.

That looks lovely - too nice to waste on weddings and banging up in a metal box.

Isn't storing them in a container supposed to be one of the worst things you can do when storing a car?

The container it is in has been fully insulated with this foam stuff about 6 inches deep. However the engine had a look of corrosion all over it and the alloy wheel trims were getting a little bit rough. The driver has told the owners to maybe drop the cost of hiring it so it gets more use. At the moment it goes out about 4 times a year.It does have quite a bit of history so it is sad to see it not getting as much use as it should.

£380 for 4 hours with a driver doesn't seem too silly but it is in the middle of nowhere in Devon. I am sure in Bristol or Exeter it would find a lot more work.

Now I have seen the history of that car (check out the first owner's name...!) it strikes me as being even more of a waste. Very few clients will have any feel for that car - it will just be a "posh old motor" to have in the wedding photos. Seems almost criminally under-used. If it doesn't get the bookings why do they just not enjoy the car?
