Ford focus, mark 1, it was years before I tried one, all the hype about how it changed the game, class leading suspension blah etc yawn. Got a mk1 years after they'd stopped making them and nothing noteworthy about it at all, sold it within twelve months, haven't had another since then.

I actually found the Focus an uncomfortable car, largely because of the seat. I couldn't see how it could do anything better than the much cheaper Astra.

Had two mk1s,still have one now that is used primarily by the wife. Ours a 2.0 Ghia auto and it's so much better than my previous 1.6. It's had new rear arms,shockers and bushes due to rubber degrading. Bought in 2021 for 600 quid with 41k on clock. The lower spec ones I've been in weren't as comfy as this one. A well sorted one with a bit of power like the 2.0 is not a bad old barge. Ours towed or caravan up and down the country till we sold it and has dragged trailers all over too. I doubt I'd have another one though as I think this has spoiled us having had any niggles ironed out and a refreshed suspension. In all fairness it's a different world to our old escort estate,a 2000 1.6 but that's not exactly hard to beat!

A 1996 Nissan Skyline R33. Was completely standard apart for some Japanese aftermarket wheels. Drove well on a test drive. Seller put it on the 4 post lift and I saw it was clean and solid underneath. Only needed a small repair and a bit of paint sorting.

Was offered to me for £4,000, which was cheap but I didn't buy it, even though I had the cash sat around doing nothing. One that got away?

Bloody hell! Fancy turning that down at that sort of cash, the prices they are fetching these days, what a mug!

I turned down a near perfect Jensen Interceptor for £600 about 40 years ago, what a twat. Also, a V12 E-Type that was a bit tired and emotional but the same money.

Only if its a GTR, looks like a GTS to me.

I turned down an Audi UR Quattro for 1500 quid, my mate needed cash urgently, I didn't have any, it had a tappet noise so he sold it cheaply, he paid £12k for it the year before (1997)

GTS are worth decent coin as well nowadays, the drift boys luv-em as they are rear-wheel drive only and still rapid!

Retro Jap stuff is silly now, I wish I'd kept my S13 200SX, also my Supra and S14a, although if I'd been into crap fords I'd be even better off.

Number one (human) son is still sad that his Skyline GT-R was written off (his fault, he pulled out of a junction at work and got 'T' boned) as today, it would be worth about 40 - 50 thousand! He got a about 20 for it which he was well pleased with as it only cost him about 12...
