I feel the same about my S211 - I like it much more than I expected.

I only got mine as it was cheap and gave a fun jolly for a day to pick it up. Also give me a chance to drive something different I haven't tried before. I really can't say I ever really wanted a Mercedes but this S211 has changed my mind significantly on them. Admittedly the chance of it grenanding itself electrically is high but at least I got it cheap.

I quite fancy trying some of the older cars now. Maybe a bigger engine in a smaller body (e.g. C32 AMG or C55 AMG). Not sure I want any post 2010 Mercedes though as too blingy and ostentatious. Something I feel a Mercedes shouldn't be - they should be understated luxury.

I have several Mercs on the family fleet and don’t love any of them, I also have examples of Brummie and Finnish craftsmanship that I like very much. But when I have to go somewhere far away, I always take a Merc, my eldest daughter raves about her BMW330i but takes a Merc diesel on her regular visits to Sheffield.

JM’s Avantgarde has the standard ‘sporty’ cloth that the trim level deserved, leather ( real at that time) was an option, Classic and Elegance had their own designs of standard cloth. MBTex was very rarely specified on U.K. W210s. My current S211 has “leather” or Artico which is basically MBTex much the same as all sub S Class Benzes of the last 20 years no matter what the adverts for used cars might have you believe.

Turns out its first owner was Luton Town Football (whatever that is) Club, for use by its then manager Joe Kinnear (whoever that is). Be it as it may, I guess what's left of it in Spring can be flipped for the healthy profit I'm entitled to.

Joe Kinnear was the third manager Luton got through in the 2000 - 2001 season that saw them relegated to Division 3 (the old division 4,). I'd not get my hopes therefore of much of a profit from it but do keep posting, some of us do enjoy posts about cars.
