Looks like a volt meter to me.
Yes, at idle, it will drop when you turn all that on.

Is it supposed to drop when the engine does it's funny loss of power thing?

Talked to my horse owning friend. She recommended this stuff. I'll update when it arrives. Sent from my RMO-NX1 using Tapatalk

Been using that on my motorbike boots and leathers for years.
I used Gliptone on the leathrr seats in my cars, and now use it on my leather sofa. Follow their instructions, and use sparingly, otherwise it can feel a bit sticky. Great stuff.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
My SLK shat the windows, roof and locks on the way to the South of Europe.. was the module under the bonnet, caused by the wee cooling fan that's supposed to stop the problem. Clear out the drains first to stop more water getting in, then just leave the doors open on "a good drying day" dehumidifiers are great, but best in a properly sealed space, otherwise they are just trying to dry the world.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
It's a voltmeter, and the alternator is momentarily dropping output when the engine stumbles, if its a 2.0 petrol, check the dizzy cap carefully, that sounds like a HT spark jumpingAlabamaShrimp wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 7:11 pm So let's have a stupid question.
The Frontera I just about caught it's loss of engine power
Looking now I see the ammeter drops. It does this when you turn the lights, heater and back screen all at once.
As I've never noticed this before, and don't have another car with one, is this normal or part of the problem?

It's. 2.4 petrol. I'll check it, I bet its the original. I'll order new and a rotor arm anyway. Leads and plugs were replaced a bit ago.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Erratic usually points to electrical. Back firing under load could also be electrical. Start at the bottom. Plugs and leads, make sure leads aren't arcing out. Did these use su carbs? Is it on points or electronic ignition? Could be iffy points or a breaking down condenser. Usually if converted to leccy ignition they either work or don't!SubPar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 8:13 am Folk with experience of carbs, points, etc. I have need of your help.
I've been helping with a series Land Rover. It has an erratic misfire on tickover (erratic as in not on every revolution of the engine), plus it backfires through the carb under load on more than about half throttle.
It's running on E5 with no other additives (head is unleaded compatible).
What needs adjustment? We've already retarded the timing a bit to get it to this point, and it was running nicely for a while before doing this.
It also won't stay in high range, but that may be due to it having no floor at the moment, so it's lacking various springs etc on those levers...

It's on all mechanical ignition (as far as I remember) and injectors.
I'll get everything and go from there. How would I know if the leads were arcing though?

Look, in the dark. You can often see it, if it's bad.
