Well don't worry I didn't buy it. So I can't be a cunt by converting it.

I think this is pretty good value for a pre 80s soft top. I can't love to like them though. That rear end is just too ugly, even for me.

Another easily affordable (for most) 1970s starter classic car that doesn't or sound completely fucked from the description and pictures. I really have a soft spot for these rubber bumpered cars. Kinda wished I got one instead of my chrome bumper.

Automatic Minis drive surprisingly well I think. I really liked the one I drove

Thing is, I was buying clean seventies Minis for 350 quid and they haven't got any better in the intervening 30 odd years. You're now in effect paying ten times as much for inevitable disappointment.

It's a ringer anyway. VIN plate in the wrong place, four bolt top subframe mounts, older type switch panel - it's a 1975 car at the latest. It should be the darker antique gold on an R plate.

This is so true going back to a car you thought was the good back in the day. One of my first cars was a 1981 Renault 18TS. I thought it was the dogs danglies and drove it like a nutter and could easily beat Cortina's and Capri's round the back roads. I only sold it when I got offered a Fuego cheap. Roll on 20 years and I thought it would be a good idea to have another, it was total shit and has tainted my memories of the one I had. Now I will never go back to anything I have had before as they are never as good the second time round.

The only way to preserve one's memories and never have to face that kind of disappointment is to completely avoid exposure to any modern shit.

I have no memories to preserve on classic Minis as I have never owned or driven one. I've only been a passenger once in one and it was only a mile or so.

Driving a Minor most days of the week reminds me enough how shit Minis were, to be honest. Not to drive, just to live with. Bearing in mind my 1000 is now 56 years old it is a lot easier to look after than 13-year old Mk1 Minis were.....Windows falling out, oil pressure gauge feeds spraying the entire front carpet, ball-breaking boot-mounted batteries, wanky yet much-vaunted waggly gear-levers, fuckpig bypass hoses, hand-shredding fanbelt changes, cardboard sills, a pansy of a distributor that can't do rain. Etc. Etc.

You want a fucking good "handling experience" to make up for that lot.
